The New Phanaeus Vindex 2.1 Trio

The largest one closest to the camera is the female, Esmerelda, who RIP. The other two are males with the farthest one being the obvious male because of his well developed large horn and pointed carapace.  These two males have not been named but are both doing well and eating well unlike the girl who never adjusted. These are wild collected beetles from a supplier who specializes in pet invertebrates. They are rare as dead specimens for pinned insect collections so they are rare as living pet specimens as well. Little is known about keeping them in captivity or what their captive or wild life span is for this particular species of dung beetle. So far most people that keep them either supply them with fibrous fresh dung from farm animals and attempt to get them to breed or if keeping them as strictly pet/display all natural applesauce can be substituted for dung. This is my second time buying a trio of them and for me at least one usually survives 3 months which is seemingly average from what I've heard from others whom have bought them form the same source.
