Really Mine

Description

As a kid I was terrified of snakes. What alien creatures could they be to be so large and move without legs? I mean I knew even caterpillars had legs though some moved along with them in a funny manner (like inch worms), so all I knew of not having legs was earthworms (and relatives). Still being afraid I was also a curious person and snakes remained a curious mystery to me, so I didn't mind being up close to them if they were behind glass at a zoo. Some snakes caught more of my curiosity over more of my fear than others and boa constrictors were amongst those that greatly fascinated me. For being so big they seemed so lazy and docile and the shape of their wide heads I found so cute like a Saint Bernard. They were one of the first snakes that made me start realizing that snakes are just gentle giants, because I hadn't grown up around as much negative denotation on the species compared to Anacondas, Burmese Pythons, and of course I was taught to fear anything venomous like they were demons. Corn snakes and Garter Snakes were the first species that got me to come out of my shell on fearing snakes because we have them locally and my mom grew up around them so she taught me don't bother it and it won't bother you. My first snake was a corn snake because it's what I was around the most so it's the first kind of snake I came to trust interacting with. I love my corn snake to death and he opened the door for me to become a true snake lover and to brave my way all the way up to the big snakes. Been a dream to own a boa one day ever since I had conquered my fear of snakes and wanted to be a snake owner. Never thought I'd actually feel comfortable enough with snakes to get a species quite so big, nor did I think I would be able to house one. Thank you YouTube for telling me that not everything marked as a Red-Tail Boa is the 12+ foot Red-Tailed Boas I remember seeing in my childhood. I can't believe I'm actually a boa constrictor owner and that this tame paradox boy is really mine.
