Brenard

So I'm arachnophobic and since my best friend has been letting me ease her into getting over her fear of snakes, I decided I'd try to be just as brave as her and try to face my long term fear of spiders. Figured I should start real small and since I've always enjoyed watching jumping spiders practice their acrobatics and had enough of a small soft spot for them to never be able to bring myself to kill one that was creeping in my house, I decided a jumping spider would be the best place to start. So alexandersmantids.deviantart.c… was nice enough to take the time to find me one as part of a trade, since my work schedule and local weather was bad for finding one myself. After warming up to the little guy by watching him explore during the day, I decided to try to handle him to get some photos. He's skittish so getting him out of his jar is difficult and requires lots of patience. To help me think of him as a fond pet and not a creepy spider needing to be squished, I christened him with one of my favorite male pet names, Brenard, which I've been saving for the right animal. Fun fact I got the name form The Santa Clause movies 1 & 2 as Brenard is the head elf and my favorite character.
