Red Seals

Description

I created these seals from ordinary candle wax to embellish my wedding invitation envelopes. The bad thing about not using actual sealing wax is that the wax in most candles is much softer, so the seals are easily indented/scratched/dinged even way after the wax has fully cooled. Also, in this case I noticed that the color and scent on the candle wax transferred. I didn't always find this to be the case in the past so it all depends on how the candle you use is made. As a quick and cheap embellishment, that people are barely going to take notice to before destroying it to open the envelope, these seals worked out well for me, despite the fact that I used a cheap candle ($1) to make them.

Notes:
*Properly seal envelopes before placing on wax seals, because only sealing wax meant for sealing envelopes will actually hold the envelope closed.
*Adding a wax seal will increase the final weight of your envelope so extra postage will be required for mailing. Also, wax seals make the envelope "non-machinable" for sorting at the post office, and there is an additional postage cost/fee associated with this.
*Only use candles that come set/poured/made in jars/holders as it makes pouring the wax easier and more controlled. Do not use votives, pillar candles, etc as there is a high risk of burning yourself with dripping wax and it's harder to control where the wax will fall as you are pouring it.
